In the Pastor's Study...
Every Book of the Bible
This class uses short presentations and group discussion to explore the scriptures. This study includes 186 of the 1189 chapters in the Bible, selected so that it provides a good foundation of Bible understanding.
The course started in Genesis and as of January 2018 is in the book Psalms. New comers are always welcome; any week is a good week to get started!
At the beginning of each new book, using four or more resources, we have an introduction to each one. The topics are: Why read this book? Who wrote this book and when? What period of history does it cover? Why was it written? To whom was it written? What to look for in that book.
The Quest Study Bible NIV has chosen key chapters for each book in this study. The purpose is to get an overview of God’s creation and his plan for his children—us. Also, it helps to see what happened in the O.T. is a precursor to what we see in Jesus Christ and the N.T.
The class is lead by Sandy Smoyer and starts at 11 a.m. in the Pastor's Study (go in through the church office.)

Feb 18- April 29:
Pastor Karen will lead a study on HOSPITALITY, based on the book Making Room: Recovering Hospitality as a Christian Tradition by Christine Pohl. Discover the richness and the complexity of the biblical concept of hospitality and how it has been lived out over the centuries. Explore ways to make the practice of hospitality part of our daily lives and Christian witness. You do not need to read the book to participate, but students are certainly invited to read the book. A sign-up list will be available on the Welcome Desk for those who would like to get a copy of the book through the church.
We are anticipating a 4 week DVD study by Adam Hamilton. Topic still to be decided.
