and a variety of responses to their loved one’s coming out.

Child and infant care and activities for children will be provided.

September 24, October 1, 15, 22, and 29 –
11:00-12:00 – Book Study
Join us for conversation and a study of Changing Our Mind by David P. Gushee. Gushee offers a “humble and learned reading of scripture in the context of his Christian community’s daily life”(Ochs) and “addresses one of the most controverted issues

in our time…with wisdom and grace” (Brownson).

Gushee is the Distinguished University Professor of Christian Ethics and Director of the Center for Theology and Public Life at Mercer University.

The Discernment Team has chosen this particular book because it does not seek to tell readers what to think. Instead, it seeks to demonstrate ways that people can think ethically and act with biblical integrity concerning this issue.

Sunday, October 8, 11:00-12:30 – Guest Speaker
Dr. Landi Turner, Professor of Human Sexuality at Eastern University, will present an educational session on gender and sexual orientation. She will define the terms relevant to an understanding of LGBTQ persons. Landi visited our Adult Sunday School class last year, and this presentation will provide a refresher for past participants as well as information for folks new to these conversations. Regardless of perspective, having a foundational understanding of these issues will benefit us all as we join in conversations.

November 5 and following

Bucky Sydnor will lead several sessions on the book of Philippians.

Watch the bulletin and this page for more details closer to the time.
