Position Description

The childcare provider will:

  • Provide care for infants to 4 years during Sunday morning worship services

  • Provide supervision for additional children ages Kindergarten through 5th grade 11:00-12:15

  • Provide childcare for occasional special church activities, if available. 

  • Offer a warm, loving and caring environment where children will feel safe and able to engage in age-appropriate activities.  

The position requires a person who has a passion for nurturing young children and the ability to connect to and work with a variety of children. This individual should be a self-starter who is dependable and takes initiative, has the ability to communicate well, and can work respectfully with families, staff members and members of the congregation.

Applicant must:  

  • be 18 years of age or older

  • have a high school diploma or GED 

  • have experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and elementary age children

Hours - Sundays

mid-Sept to mid-June   9:00 am–12:15 pm 

        9:00 am-11:00 am: Infants to 4 years

      11:00 am-12:15 pm: Infants to 5th graders

There will be two childcare providers working together at all times. During the third hour (11:00- 12:15), one childcare provider will be with infants to 4 years and the other childcare provider will supervise children Kindergarten through 5th grade in an adjoining room. 

mid-June to mid-Sept   9:00 am–11:00 am: Infants to 4 years

This position is paid hourly. Pay is remitted monthly on the last day of the month. If worship is canceled due to inclement weather, the Supervisor will phone or send a text and a minimum of two hours will be paid.

This position does not include any benefits such as PTO, sick pay, disability, or family leave. Planned absences require a two week notice to the supervisor. More than three unexcused absences may result in termination. 

Responsibilities

In coordination with another Childcare Provider:

  • Welcome and engage with parents and children as they arrive.

  • Make sure each child is signed in & out.

  • Walk the children to the play area in the sanctuary and supervise them until they return to the nursery.

  • Actively interact with the children and encourage them to play with the toys and other children.

  • Support the children in their interactions with each other and in solving problems that arise.

  • Help with diapering and toileting.

  • Maintain a safe, clean environment for the children, which includes cleaning changing tables and any toys that babies/toddlers put in their mouth.  

  • Report to the supervisor any repairs or cleaning needed in the rooms.

  • Inform the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished (i.e. wipes, latex gloves, first aid items, etc.)
